An ascot tie, also called a cravat, is a large, typically brightly coloured necktie that’s tied in a free knot with the ends hanging down. It’s usually worn with formal apparel, corresponding to a tuxedo or morning coat. Ascot ties are sometimes related to horse racing, as they’re historically worn by jockeys.
Ascot ties may be produced from a wide range of supplies, together with silk, wool, and cotton. They’re usually patterned, with frequent patterns together with stripes, checks, and paisleys. Ascot ties can be plain, by which case they’re typically produced from a solid-colored material.
